Peter Martin was captivated by Margot's blue eyes, intelligence and serene character, so their romance began. Whenever there was a letter for her, the mailbag carried a beautiful bouquet of flowers that scattered on the Zapatoca soccer field.

In 1925, Peter Martin Bücking, after fighting in the first world war, leaves his country at the age of 25 in search of hope. He takes the first ship, crosses the Atlantic, and lands in the steamy Barranquilla. Fortunately, he connects with other Germans working at SCADTA airlines and is hired as an accountant. Later, he is transferred to the Bucaramanga branch, were the Acevedo Díaz brothers contact him, interested in building an airport in their town: Zapatoca.
After a long horseback journey trough the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia, they reach the town. Peter Martin is welcomed into the Acevedo's home and meets the rest of the family: Mrs. Isidora and her three daughters, Ema, Magola, and Margot.
